Starting 9/1/22 - Questar lll BOCES announces a vacancy for a full-time (10-month school schedule with summers off) Aviation Teacher position based out of our Columbia Greene Education Center (CGEC) in Hudson, NY.   Questar III, in partnership with Richmor Aviation, offers a two-year flight training program based at the CGEC and Columbia County airport.  This two-year program is for high school students that have a passion for aviation. Split course curriculum allows exploration within the Aviation field through both Flight and Non-Flight pathways. For the Flight Pathway, Questar III partners with Richmor Aviation and the Columbia County Airport to provide a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved flight program.  This program prepares students with both ground and flight knowledge to obtain an FAA issued Private Pilot Certificate. Students are engaged daily in a ground school training program located at the CGEC while receiving flight training at the Columbia County Airport.  The Non-Flight Pathway allows students to achieve FAA Commercial Drone Certification and hands-on flight time with DJI products. The FAA based Commercial Drone Operators Course includes much of the same ground-based knowledge as a private pilot, but with a focus on the use of drones, regulations, and operational policies. Instructional materials will prepare students for the FAA written exam required for a commercial drone operator license.  Candidates must possess or be willing to pursue a NYS teaching certification through the Transitional Certification process in Airframe Maintenance & Repair, Avionics and/or Aeronautics.  Applicable work experience will qualify an applicant to pursue NYS certification through the non-traditional Transitional A teacher pathway.  Applicants with experience working in the aviation industry are encouraged to apply.

Questar III prefers an online application. To apply, please go to www.olasjobs.org/capital to submit your online application and supporting materials.  Interested applicants not familiar with the OLAS system may also email their resume and letter of interest to employment@questar.org.  Be sure to include Aviation Teacher in the subject line of your email.
