Assistant Professor, Fire Science Program

This is a 164-day faculty position, that teaches and oversees various aspects of program development, planning and implementation of the Basic Fire Fighter program and other Fire Science training. Assists in program expansion and student recruitment. Maintains state program certifications and serves as the college's primary contact for the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. Prepares and updates course syllabi, schedules all classes, oversees proficiency-based training and exams. Maintains accurate student records, accessible to each student, respectively. Recruits students for the program.

Bachelor's degree in Fire Administration or Fire Science. Hold a current Fire Instructor II certification, LFTI Certification, Paramedic or EMT Certification, and Fire Officer 2 Certification. At least ten years of full-time experience as a fire fighter. Must have a minimum of two years' experience teaching at a technical school or community college level. Other preferred credentials include instructor credentials for the following: EVOC, Hazardous materials technician, Haz Mat, Wildland firefighter, NIMS and SERP.
