JOB SUMMARY
This position provides supportive case management services to the program residents of the Hope Center for Women and Children. Duties require a broad understanding of Biblical principles, human behavior, and social service resources for homeless women and children. Our goal is to provide nurturing, trusting, and caring relationships to women and children using grace-based principles and to coordinate Biblically sound action/service plans to access appropriate community resources moving families away from homelessness and addiction toward healthy responsible thinking and decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the spiritual growth and Christian instruction of those who Hope Ministries serves. This can include (but is not restricted to) personal mentoring, the sharing of Scripture and Biblical encouragement, and praying with program participants. This may be in a structured setting (i.e. a classroom or chapel), or unstructured, with individual clients as the need arises.
- Participate in the self-evaluation process.
- Teach and model daily life skills, including relationships, parenting, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotional wellness, etc. to clients.
- Hold women and children accountable to upholding program requirements and working their recovery plans while they are participating in Hope Ministries’ programs.
- Assist residents with advocacy issues by making contact with needed community services, working both inside and outside of the family center setting.
- Provide counseling to residents to assist them in working through boundaries and barriers that keep them from growing and to develop a strategy to overcome the boundaries and barriers.
- Observe and respond to symptoms of emotional distress in residents, providing crisis intervention as needed.
- Serve as resource for Hope Center staff and/or volunteers providing educational information and assisting them in spiritual development and recovery of residents.
- Maintain current documentation of client notes and all care plans in accordance with family center standards.
- Maintain ministry policies and procedures, objectives, and participate in assigned quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
- Enhance professional development and spiritual maturity through participation in educational programs, Bible study, in service trainings, workshops, etc.
- Conduct Biblically based recovery and life skills or Bible classes as assigned.
- Work in a spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance with residents, staff, visitors, volunteers, and donors.
- Attend WCM meetings and educational training as approved or assigned by the Director and as opportunity allows, including staff meetings (required attendance of 75% of weekly meetings).
- Agreement with and uphold Hope Ministries’ Statement of Faith and Purpose, and Core Values.
- Must have a lifestyle that demonstrates moral and ethical adherence to the teachings of the Bible and an expressed desire to minister to those who are poor, needy, and homeless.
- Able to lead others toward spiritual maturity and model Christ-like behaviors.
- A good knowledge of the Scripture and an ability to apply Biblical principles to real life situations.
- Strong leadership, good judgment, sensitivity, and compassion.
- Works well with diverse groups of people, and be concerned about their needs, showing an ability to motivate and to provide tough love when appropriate.
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, other disciplines, and social service agencies.
- Working knowledge of resources in the community.
- Willingness and ability to directly supervise program participants’ drug testing through urine analysis.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate Microsoft Office programs including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to consistently meet Hope Center work schedule as designated.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and two years of experience in human service preferred.
Perform other assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Reports to: Case Management Supervisor
Employment Status: Full-time Salary / Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday with possible required evening; minimal weekend hours may be needed; flexibility required in coordination with supervisor
