Director Center Institute
Northern Arizona University Arizona K12 Center seeks an experienced director, to lead a professional learning center located in Phoenix that supports Arizona's K-12 teachers.
While this position is part of the College of Education at Northern Arizona University, the Center and its director work collaboratively with the Arizona Board of Regents' three public universities. This position oversees staff that lead, perform, and provide services for the support, development, facilitation, implementation, evaluation, and management of the activities at the Arizona K12 Center.
The work of the Arizona K12 Center takes place at a variety of locations throughout Arizona and often includes working during evenings and weekends.
The director applies leadership skills and subject matter expertise related to functions of the Arizona K12 Center while providing coaching and mentoring to the Center's staff who are strong supporters of the vision, direction, and organization of initiatives that align with the overall mission of advancing the goals of the Arizona K12 Center.
This position interacts with the Arizona education community and stakeholders at large, including the deans and leadership of all three state universities.
Administration and Organizational Leadership - 30%
• Develops an overall theory of change/theory of action that strategically connects the Center's programs to meet the needs of Arizona's K-12 education community.
• Provides leadership in the direction of the overall work and professional learning offerings of the Arizona K12 Center, along with support to the Arizona Teacher Residency.
• Supervises two assistant directors, the director of the Arizona Teacher Residency Program, the financial oversite manager, and an executive assistant.
• Meets regularly with staff to review goals, listen to concerns, share challenges and opportunities, and provide professional development opportunities.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable state and federal laws and mandates relevant policies and procedures; holds staff accountable through various processes.
• Responsible for updating the Board of Directors on the work of the Center and works closely with the board chair to set meeting direction and agendas.
Finance and Fundraising Operations - 30%
• Develops a business plan to ensure that budget needs are being met while ensuring professional learning offerings are both accessible and affordable for all Arizona educators.
• Oversees the creation of a line-item budget and department budgets to meet the needs of the Center, allocates resources, and ensures good stewardship of funds across functional areas while ensuring fiscal accountability.
• Establishes meetings with donors, various foundations, entities, and/or other partners to seek grants, partnerships, and fundraising opportunities to support Center's programming.
Program Development - 20%
• Determines an annual slate of professional development offerings that meet the current needs of Arizona teachers.
• Develops systems for induction, National Board Certified Teacher candidate support, and other professional learning programs within K-12 schools.
• Develops proposals and presentations to amplify the work of the Arizona K12 Center both in state and nationally.
• Develops program goals and assesses impact of programs and events using evaluation data and feedback to refine and deepen the overall work of the Arizona K12 Center.
Organizational Advancement - 15%
• Maintains and cultivates relationships with national organizations that can advance the work of the Center (e.g., Learning Forward, National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, New Teacher Center, etc.).
• Meets regularly with other statewide entities (e.g. Arizona Education Association, ABEC, AzTEA, Education Forward Arizona) to draw strategic connections to enhance the work of the Center and seeks opportunities to partner with private and public organizations.
• Collaborates with representatives from the Governor's Office and the Arizona Department of Education as well as the other Regents' universities and county offices.
• Promotes the work of the Arizona K12 Center to develop work agreements with schools, districts, and other organizations.

• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the Minimum Requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree, PhD, and/or National Board Certification.
• K-12 teaching and leadership experience.
• Proven ability to engage, motivate, and work with teachers, staff, and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently; a self-starter with energy, humility, and enthusiasm.

Salary
Salary range begins at $95,809. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
