Education Manager
OVERALL PURPOSE
This position is responsible to manage all aspects of the pre-school education component as well as the professional development of the pre-school educational staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plan and evaluate the implementation of the education component goals and objectives of Head
Start and Pre-K Counts programs.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Provide input into the development and implementation of education plans, policies and procedures, and training which comply with current regulations and performance standards
- Observe and evaluate classroom staff, students and environment with CLASS, ECERS-3, and
- Beginning of the Year Checklist, and others as deemed necessary
- Provide feedback regarding observations
- Oversee proper implementation of curriculum
- Approve classroom site newsletters
- Review lesson plans and classroom schedules
Track and monitor program data related to children and staff.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Review and ensure timesheets are completed and correct
- Monitor and track developmental screenings monthly, including rescreening and referrals
- Monitor growth of children not eligible for referral
- Monitor required educational family visits and conferences
- Analyze education outcomes
- Monitor and track staff credentials
- Request from school districts, and monitor results on kindergarten bound students for future program planning
- Attach relevant data into Child Plus system
Ensure classrooms are equipped with necessary supplies.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Review requisitions completed by staff
- Order, process and disperse supplies
- Update materials and curriculum as needed
- Furnish new classrooms as needed
Ensure class ratios are maintained.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Process and approve leave requests
- Arrange substitute coverage for classrooms as needed
- Substitute in classrooms if necessary
Network with local agencies to maintain an understanding of available services and market agency services.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Plan and facilitate 2 Education Advisory meetings annually
- Meet with school district personnel as needed
- Attend meetings as required, such as SCTC Occupational Advisory board
- Collaborate with other early childhood and educational programs
Coordinate career development opportunities for staff.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Provide information on or schedule as many college courses as the budget allows for each fiscal year.
- Provide/facilitate training for education staff as determined by observation, evaluations, or Professional Development Plan
- Maintain open communication/collaboration with the on-staff Education Coach and Special Services Manager
- Provide information and guidance to staff to obtain or maintain educational credentials
Attend/conduct required meetings and trainings. PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
- Child/family staffings
- Management team staff meetings
- New staff orientation
- Pre-Service and In-Service days
OTHER DUTIES
- Provide Director with monthly reports
- Interview and assign staff
- Perform other related duties as required
- Assist with technology needs
- Address parent and staff concerns
- Complete 90-day and annual evaluations
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Supervision is received from the CAPFSC ECE Department Director
SUPERVISION ADMINISTERED
This position requires the supervision of Lead Teacher, Teachers, and School Readiness Aides
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education required
- OR Bachelor’s Degree along with equivalent early childhood coursework and five years of early childhood teaching experience
EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING
- Relevant management experience
- Minimum five years classroom experience
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
- CLASS Certification
- Valid PA Driver’s license
