General Description
With minimum supervision from the Executive Director of Institutional Research, the Senior Analyst of Institutional Research plans, develops, coordinates, and conducts institutional research and effectiveness projects.  The Senior Analyst of Institutional Research will gather, extract, analyze, and report data to support analysis of Union County College’s effectiveness at the institutional and programmatic levels.  
 
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
·         Supports leadership/administration with internal/external research and analysis of data, as requested.
 
·         Serves as
IPEDS
(Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) keyholder for the institution, i.e., attests to the accuracy of the data reported to the State of New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education and the National Center for Educational Statistics.
 
·         Conducts research, analyzes data, and documents results to support internal and external surveys, reports, and business process analysis.
 
·         Conducts detailed research and data analysis in order to construct summaries and general understanding of the data.  Identifies sources of data outside of the main Colleague system that will support the college process, analyses, and documentation.
 
·         Works with the Information Technology department to create data files required for reporting and survey sampling.
 
·         Writes standardized computer software routines (e.g.
SPSS
) for the purposes of providing descriptive, multivariate and univariate statistics.
 
·         Collects and analyzes data required in master plans, accrediting agencies’ self-studies, professional academic program re-accreditation processes, grant proposals, program reviews, and grant evaluations.
 
·         Compiles, organizes, and summarizes ad-hoc requests for information supporting all areas of the College including but not limited to enrollment, external trending, collective bargaining negotiation support, targeted surveys, and statistical analysis.
 
·         Updates periodic management information reports each semester as assigned by the Executive Director.
 
·         Coordinates the creation and dissemination of the fall and spring data books.
 
·         Manages the academic program review process and prepares draft academic program review reports.
 
·         Prepares presentations of the results of institutional effectiveness studies.
 
·         Prepares and maintains data on the Assessment, Planning, and Research office’s web pages.
 
·         Prepares in narrative form a written analysis and summary of data or assessment results and constructs tables for the presentation of data in accordance with the American Psychological Association format.
 
·         Maintains effective working relationships with faculty and staff.  Also maintains effective working relationships with the statewide
IPEDS
coordinator, located in the State of New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education.
 
·         Attends meetings both internal and external to the College as directed by the Executive Director.
 
·         Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Institutional Research.
 
Education Requirements
Master’s Degree required or equivalent combinations of education and experience and work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
 
Experience
·         At least two years of research experience is required, preferably in an institution of higher learning or an equivalent combination of education and work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Competencies and Skills Required
·         Institutional research, planning, or market/survey research skills preferred.
 
·         Ability to work independently, to organize, and plan assignments to meet reporting deadlines.
 
·         Working knowledge of the following software applications:
SPSS
, MS Office, Colleague, Business Objects.
 
·         Must communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
 
·         Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
 
Physical Demands and Work Environment
·         This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
 
·         Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
 
·         No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
 
·         Some travel required.
