The Department of Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Nutrition and Dietetics is seeking a full time Instructor to teach courses in the Foods and Nutrition curricula.  This curriculum is designed to prepare students for successful transfer to 4-year didactic programs, food/culinary programs, as well as preparing graduating students for the ANFP dietary manager certification exam.  The curriculum includes normal nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, teaching in healthcare, food service management, and food preparation/laboratory courses. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate is expected to participate in curriculum/organization improvements, laboratory facility development and student advisement. Additional responsibilities include active participation in departmental and college activities and active involvement with student clubs and local professional organizations.  The position is tenure track with a teaching load of fifteen (15) contact hours, plus a minimum of five (5) office hours per week.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A Master's degree and the RDN, with one (1) year of experience in teaching undergraduate college students in the classroom, or within a clinical setting, with a concentration in food laboratory instruction, is required. A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience in the Dietetics/Nutrition field, with a strong knowledge of food service management and production, as well as normal nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, is also required.  All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Active membership and registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (and certification through The University of the State of New York Education Department) is preferred. A familiarization with the dietetic profession courses and certifications offered through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and Association of Nutrition and Food Professionals (ANFP) is also preferred. Experience in food service management and production; and function as dietetics preceptor is highly desirable. The ability to teach all classes offered in the Foods and Nutrition program, and strong managerial skills are desirable.
