Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a director of allied health to develop, recommend and schedule allied health open enrollment courses, seminars, professional development, in-house training, special activities and contract training for the continuing education and workforce development (CEWD) division. This position develops and schedules continuing education and workforce development allied health open enrollment courses and contract training as well as assists with the management of division operations and staff. This position is required to periodically work evenings and weekends, including registration.

 

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Develops, recommends and schedules allied health CEWD courses, seminars, professional development, in-house training, special activities and contract training
  • Keeps informed of industry trends, determines the need for allied health courses, serves as a liaison for continuing education and workforce development in the allied health area and provides direct contact with healthcare organizations, businesses, state agencies, community groups and the general public
  • Provides information and advising about course offerings and career pathways and assists students in identifying goals and developing skills, highlighting Guided Pathways and revised application and registration processes for CEWD allied health students
  • Serves as a member of the Maryland Community College Advisory Group for Healthcare Professions (AGHeP) and credit PACS, the coordinator for the American Heart Association Training Center at the college, and as the director/coordinator for other special programs in allied health
  • Obtains approvals and meets licensure/certification standards required by outside agencies and maintains student and course records in accordance with their requirements
  • Recruits, recommends and evaluates instructors in the allied health areas, supervises the allied health coordinators and administrative associate, and assists instructors with the development of courses and special activities, including course descriptions, objectives and syllabi
  • Recommends the purchase of textbooks, instructional materials and equipment and other budgetary items to the dean of continuing education and workforce development and manages the allied health administrative and instructional budgets
  • Assists with the management and leadership of the CEWD operation, helping to ensure that staffing and workload allocation are appropriate, the work environment is positive and productive, and operations evolve through a process of continuous improvement; oversees and conducts performance appraisals; and consults with supervisor about unusual or major activities
  • Verifies rosters, grades, attendance and other requirements at the conclusion of courses and determines successful completion of courses using the Elevate system when indicated
  • Prepares and distributes promotional materials related to allied health courses, participates in trade shows, career fairs and other marketing events and recommends news releases and advertisements to the dean of continuing education and workforce development
  • Participates in teaching and training activities as appropriate, conducts information sessions, visits classes, and intervenes on student issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a health or other relevant field
  • Five years of related work experience that includes program development and supervision
  • Excellent organizational and human relations skills
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Grant and budget administration skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
    • a related master's degree
    • teaching or managerial experience in the healthcare industry

 

Supplemental Information

This is a full-time standard administrative position with excellent fringe benefits. Days and Hours of work are Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (1 hour lunch). This position is required to periodically work evenings and weekends. The starting salary is competitive, depending on qualifications and experience
